AI Call Scoring With Your Own Rubric

Answering: What is AI call scoring for sales conversations?

AI call scoring grades a finished conversation against a rubric you write. Upload a recording or transcript, or score calls you coached live, and Amotions AI returns a score per weighted criterion with the quote that earned it. It includes emotional intelligence criteria, and the weakest criterion becomes the rep's next AI roleplay drill.

The rep never learned what outranked this, so there is nothing to re-approach with in Q3 — the follow-up will be as cold as the first call.

Coaching feedback

  • Pattern, not incident: the same concession appears in 9 of 12 scored calls for this rep.
  • Across the team this rubric line scores 61 — this is a coachable individual gap, and the evidence is timestamped.
  • Manager 1:1 opens on this clip rather than on a general "work on objections" note.
Result

The manager arrives at the 1:1 with the clip, the rubric line, and the drill already assigned.

At a glance

What is AI call scoring?
AI call scoring is post-conversation analysis that grades a sales call or uploaded recording against defined behaviors—then turns gaps into coaching, not a black-box rank.
Who uses AI call scoring?
Managers and sellers who need a consistent scorecard after live coached calls, roleplay sessions, or uploaded recordings—without sitting through every replay.
What does it analyze?
Discovery depth, objection handling, next-step clarity, listening, and MSCEIT-informed emotional intelligence criteria, plus company-specific items when you personalize the scorecard.
How does it work?
Score coached live conversations, or upload videos/transcripts for an AI score. Weak areas can become the next roleplay focus. This is the Improve step after Practice (roleplay) and Perform (live coaching).
Can it be customized?
Yes. Teams can add company-specific scorecard criteria and align scoring with the same playbook used in live coaching and AI roleplay. Uploads use supported audio and transcript formats in an authenticated workspace.
What should a buyer know before evaluating AI call scoring?
Scoring is not a leaderboard of guaranteed revenue and does not replace manager judgment. Confirm the rubric matches your process, that MSCEIT-informed criteria are not an MSCEIT certification, and that you want Improve-step scoring—not only a meeting summary.

What is AI call scoring?

AI call scoring is post-call analysis that grades a recorded or transcribed conversation against a written rubric. In Amotions AI, each criterion carries a point value, returns a score with supporting evidence from the call, and feeds the next AI roleplay drill, so scores drive practice rather than a leaderboard.

Define your rubric: weighted criteria in your own words

Write each criterion the way your best manager would say it, then give it points. Heavier criteria move the overall score more. The same rubric scores uploaded recordings, live-coached calls and AI roleplay.

Scored results with evidence, not just a number

Each criterion comes back with a score and the moment that earned it, quoted from the call. When the scorecard includes delivery, audio scoring covers tone, pacing, warmth, confidence and composure, and the written feedback counts filler words.

  • Delivery: pacing, tone and composure

Practice the "just looking" objection in AI roleplay: ask what caught their eye before offering anything.

How do calls get into Amotions AI for scoring?

Two ways. Upload a recording or transcript you are permitted to use, or run the call with Amotions AI live coaching (Zoom app, desktop app or browser tab-share) so it is scored afterwards. Uploads accept common audio files and TXT, VTT, SRT or JSON transcripts, up to 25 MB per file.

  • • Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC or WebM audio
  • • Transcripts: TXT, VTT, SRT, or JSON (including Gong transcript exports)
  • • Video: export the audio track or a transcript first
  • • Live-coached calls on Zoom, Teams, Meet or a dialer are scored after the call

Can I score calls against my own rubric?

Yes. Write each criterion in plain language and give it points, so the behaviors that matter most move the score most. Load your playbook, objections and talk tracks so the scoring reflects your process. Expect about a week of calibration before scores and prompts fully match your language.

  • • Criteria written in your words, each with a point value
  • • Emotional intelligence criteria on every scorecard
  • • Separate rubrics for different call types, such as cold calls and consultations

What does a scored call look like?

Every criterion gets a score and the moment behind it, quoted from the transcript, plus what went well and the biggest opportunities. If the rubric includes delivery, audio scoring rates tone, pacing, warmth, confidence and composure, and the written feedback counts filler words.

  • • Score per criterion with an evidence quote
  • • What went well and the biggest opportunities
  • • Delivery signals: tone, pacing, warmth, confidence, composure, filler words

How do scores turn into coaching?

The lowest-scoring criterion becomes the next practice. Reps rehearse that moment in AI roleplay against a buyer persona, get scored on the same rubric, then carry it into live calls where private prompts reinforce it. Managers coach one behavior at a time instead of replaying whole recordings.

  • • Practice: AI roleplay on the weakest criterion
  • • Perform: private live prompts on the next real call
  • • Improve: the next call is scored on the same rubric

How do teams set up AI call scoring?

Start with one call type and one rubric, then widen once the scores match what your managers would say.

  1. Step 1

    Write the rubric

List four to six criteria for one call type and give each a point value. Load the playbook and objections the criteria refer to.

  2. Step 2

    Score a handful of calls

Upload recordings or transcripts, or coach a few calls live, and compare the AI scores with a manager’s own read.

  3. Step 3

    Adjust wording and points

Where scores and managers disagree, make the criterion more specific or move points to what predicts a good outcome.

  4. Step 4

    Assign roleplay from the gaps

Turn each rep’s weakest criterion into an AI roleplay drill, then check the next scored call.

How does Amotions AI call scoring compare with other tools?

Post-call conversation intelligence is strongest at recording and analyzing every call across a revenue team. Roleplay-only tools are strongest at practice. Amotions AI scores real calls and roleplay on one rubric and adds live coaching in between.

Frequently asked questions

Need AI score for sales calls—what gets scored?

Whatever your rubric says. Typical criteria cover discovery, listening, objection handling and next steps, each with a point value, plus MSCEIT-informed emotional intelligence criteria. Each score comes back with the quote from the call that supports it.

Can I upload a recording for an AI score?

Yes. Upload an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC or WebM audio) or a TXT, VTT, SRT or JSON transcript, up to 25 MB per file. For a video, export the audio track or a transcript first.

How should teams use scores in coaching?

Review scores weekly, pick the single lowest-scoring criterion for each rep, and assign an AI roleplay drill on it before the next live block. The next call is scored on the same rubric, so you can see whether the drill worked.

What proof ties scoring to outcomes?

House of Hearing used consult scorecards with Amotions AI and reported a $160K monthly sales lift (Jake LeRoy)—scores driving practice, not vanity dashboards (customer-reported, not independently verified).

How accurate is AI call scoring?

Amotions AI does not publish an accuracy percentage. Each score is an AI judgement against your rubric, shown with the quote that supports it, so a manager can check any score in seconds. Score a few calls yourself first and compare, then tighten criteria where you disagree.

How long are recordings and transcripts kept?
No specific retention period is published. Transcripts, uploads and scorecards are stored encrypted, separated by customer workspace, and never used to train third-party foundation models. Raise retention and deletion requirements in your security review. See the Trust Center.
Which languages can be scored?
Scoring is set up for English conversations. Spanish is available as a product language option, but multi-language scoring is not a published guarantee, so test it on your own calls first. See AI sales coaching in Spanish.
What counts toward pricing?
Paid plans are priced per seat. Basic is free with limited post-call scorecards and transcripts. Custom scoring and rubrics are included on every plan; paid plans: Starter is $49/seat/month billed annually ($59 billed monthly), Professional is $99/seat/month billed annually ($109 billed monthly), Advanced is $189/seat/month billed annually ($199 billed monthly), and Power is $349/seat/month billed annually ($369 billed monthly).
